The Neighborhood Approach
"It takes the village" to raise awareness

We're Big On Helping Neighborhoods

"It takes the whole village to raise a child" is a proverb that means everyone in the neighborhood is to interact with the children for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment. It takes the same neighborhood to exemplify the joy of living the true meaning of being neighbors where the "whole being" - physically, spiritually and mentally - is nurtured and stigmas are released, including the stigma of receiving mental health care that is prevalent in neighborhoods of color. The church, the coach, the CEO - everyone in the neighborhood plays a vital role for raising awareness to inspire hope for recovery.

Cultural Sensitivity Required

Every Neighborhood Is Unique

Resources and therapy must incorporate cultural sensitivity to accommodate and respect differences in opinions, values, and attitudes of individuals. Culturally diverse neighborhoods experience their own uniqueness, differences and similarities. Help tailored to effectively meet needs can be effective for diverse groups of people in the neighborhood that understands background, racial, cultural, religious, gender and sexual identities interact with one’s beliefs, behavior and belief system.

.

Because every neighbor is unique every neighborhood has its unique make-up. Whether you’re dealing with grief from a loss, stress from life events or emotional symptoms our resources offer tools for self-help. The resources and information offered are not to take the place of professional help but to offer educational resources for individuals and families to know they are not alone and there is help for recovery that is culture sensitive.
